Apartment 3: SOLD for $795,000
Auction: Saturday 24 July at 10.00am
The auction day has finally come for Matt and Jane. They have been waiting for this day since it all began — which seems more like three years ago than three months ago.

The build-up has been fantastic and they had a great response on their "open for inspection" day.

The ballot
Jamie Durie organises for each couple to draw a card from the official Block board game to determine what time and day each couple's unit will go to auction. Jane and Matt draw first auction, the date set for Saturday, July 24, at 10am with a reserve price of $795,000: dialup | broadband

Take a look back
What an amazing journey for Matt and Jane, who have not only had to relocate to another city but to find new jobs as well. They also kept up their own businesses back in Melbourne. Jane published her books, Matt completed an entire art exhibition and they even got married, all while renovating around-the-clock. After a long and tiresome 102 days on The Block, they have completed an amazing renovation on their apartment. Let's take a look at Matt and Jane's journey: dialup | broadband

The hammer fell – first to auction
It may have been an overcast day for Matt & Jane’s auction but that didn’t stop the crowd from flooding in. The atmosphere was exciting and there was a nervous energy in the air.

The auction day was kicked off with our draw for the Pick-the-Couple where you could vote for your favourite couple on The Block. The viewer and the lucky couple received a Toyota RAV4 each. The lucky couple was none other than our gorgeous Matt & Jane. Congratulations to Matt & Jane.

As 10.00am slowly approached they had six eager bidders registered for what was going to be a nail-biting experience.

Unfortunately when the bidding began, the bidders seemed to forget they had a paddle in their hand and it was kicked off at $750,000.

After an extremely long and nervous wait, a bidder came in at $760,000. It then went very quickly to $780,000, but that’s where it stayed for what seemed like an eternity. The pressure was mounting on our bidders and there didn’t seem to be any rise on the way. The auctioneer had to then pause the auction to seek advice from the real estate agent as this was well below reserve.

A brand new registration had been made as a late entrant and we had a new bidder. It was like a breath of fresh air and they weren’t afraid to use their paddle. They started their bid off at the reserve price which was $795,000.

“Third and final call. Sold for $795,000.”

It was a disappointing and surprise ending to the auction, as they sold on the reserve and therefore didn’t take home any cash. But, as disappointing as this is to them, they certainly have come out winners are hands-down Australia’s favourite couple. Congratulations on completing a stunning 3 bedroom apartment and congratulations on being our favourite couple.

Results
When it came time for Jamie & Andrew’s and Richard & Steven’s auction, the guys were certainly nervous. But as the hammer fell for Richard & Steven they new Jamie & Andrew had the victory and were the Block winners. They couldn’t be happier or prouder of Jamie & Andrew and are truly thrilled for them.

It’s been an incredible, exciting and exhausting journey for our Melbourne couple and they were going to celebrate with Jamie & Andrew before heading back to Melbourne.

Congratulations to our Toyota, Freedom and Taubmans Block winners.
