Jane’s wedding diary

7am
Wake up at mum’s after a great night’s sleep and have breakfast

8am Head off to Shek Hairdressers in St Kilda to meet all six bridesmaids and start the “hair do” process. This takes a good few hours to get through all the gals. A great catch up session though!

10am
Over the road to one of our favourite meeting places for coffee – St Kilda Grocery Bar. Matt’s mum and niece drop in to say hello.

10:45am
Head back home to mum and dad’s. Dad and my brother help with transport and the girls have all their bags packed.

11:30am
Arrive at mum & dad’s greeted by mountains of food for all the people dropping past during the day as well as the seven of us. We spend the next few hours drinking coffee, reading the paper, playing Scattergories, Scrabble and sipping champagne.

12:30pm
Make up artist, Mary from Mecca arrives. The process starts!

1:30pm
Move upstairs with one of my bridesmaids to go over my vows a few more times. I really wanted to know them off by heart and look at Matt when I was saying them. I also worked on my speech for the reception with a little help from my friends! All the girls and the rest of the family were spread across about four rooms! The house looked like a bombsite when we left…

2:30pm
Woman’s Day journalist and photographer arrive.

3:00pm
A surprise visit from one Jamie Durie to deliver one of the best and biggest surprises I have ever received in my whole life! I was completely blown away and so grateful for the gift Matt & I received – a real honeymoon after The Block!

We were all so emotional and overwhelmed we had a few glasses of champagne….

3:30pm
Woman’s Day journalist has a few words with me while I was having make up done.

4:00pm
Hairdressers arrive for final touch ups to hair. They start with mum and all the girls.

5:00pm
My make up is done and the hairdressers start on me in preparation to putting the veil on. Our photographer arrives snapping us all in a female frenzy.

6:00pm
All the bridesmaids are dressed and it is time for me to put on my wedding dress. I put my it on first and then the veil – now I feel like a bride and the butterflies have started. More photos with the bridesmaids and family follow.

6:30pm
Just family and bridesmaids enjoy a glass of champagne before stepping onto the Limo-Bus that would take us to the Stokehouse.

6:45pm
The Limo-Bus arrives and we start on our journey. We are all very excited and dad gets to ride with seven beauties. Mum and my brother have already left.

7:20pm
Arrive at The Stokehouse…I was determined not to leave Matt waiting!

7:30pm
The rest is history – most definitely the most amazing day of my life.

We asked Jane:

How would you describe yourself?
Friendly, caring and thoughtful, motivated and energetic. Love a challenge and love to be busy. Approachable with a strong sense of style.

What are your personal strengths and weaknesses?
I am driven and organised, which has been a great strength for me over the years, however it can also be a weakness as I tend to expect others to keep the same pace. I can be a little impatient sometimes… I have a strong personality and am not afraid to stand my ground, I do tend to be a bit stubborn but only with people that let me get away with it! In saying that, I am an absolute softie at heart.

What is your most endearing trait?
I am easily moved by people, things and situations and genuinely care for others.

What is your most annoying habit, if any?
Being bossy.

What are your hobbies?
Running, reading, eating and entertaining.

What has been the biggest challenge in your life so far and how have you dealt with it?
Having my own business. I have dealt with it by staying focussed and strong, going with my gut instinct at all times and having Matt's support every step of the way.

What is the accomplishment you are most proud of?
Everything I have done so far. I am also really proud of my friends and family and the relationship I have with them.

What would be the craziest, wildest thing you would do for a lot of money?
Bungee jump. I am so petrified of bungee jumping so I would only do it if there was a reward at the end!

What would you NOT do for money?
I would never do anything to hurt other people, I would never promote smoking or drugs.

What made you enter The Block?
Another challenge and adventure for Matt and myself and a chance to set ourselves up to have a family.

What makes you laugh?
Children and slapstick comedy.

What skills do you bring to The Block?
I am highly organised and an extremely passionate person. I have a keen eye for good design and am great with the finishing touches on a room that add that special something. Most of all I hope to bring some fun and laughter (even if the laughter will be at my expense!).

What unique quality will you bring to The Block?
Being brunette!

Why do you believe that you could be the winner of The Block?
Matt and I are a great team with lots of style. Hopefully that's a winning combination.

What is your most treasured possession and why?
I know people are not possessions but what I treasure most would have to be Matt, my friends and my family (and Minnie). Because all the possessions in the world would be pretty boring without them.

Who is your hero and why?
Global: Martin Luther King — he was bold and strong and I love what he stood for. Local: Tim Costello — he does so much fantastic work for the people of Melbourne and is a strong anti-gambling campaigner.

Describe your perfect day?
It would be sunny and I wouldn't have too many things I had to do. Matt and I would go for breakfast and read the papers. We would then have a look at some shops, visit friends and end the day by going to see a movie, eating out or enjoying one of Matt's meals at home with some friends.

What renovations have you done before?
Matt and I have just renovated our flat in Melbourne. We gutted the whole apartment, knocked out a wall and completely moved the kitchen. There is still a bit of work to do but we love what we have created.

Who was your favourite couple on The Block 1. Why?
Amity and Phil. Their relationship was very strong and they did not take themselves or the show too seriously — they seemed lovely.

What do you love most about your partner?
Absolutely everything. Matt is the most kind, beautiful, generous, intelligent person I have ever met. My whole life has changed for the better since I met him — he supports me, inspires me and completes me.

How did you meet your partner?
Through work. Matt was opening Lionel Bar in St Kilda and I met with him to help with the launch and PR campaign. There was an instant connection between us.

What is their most annoying habit/trait?
Leaving the toilet seat up.

How do you relax?
Most people that know me say I don't! A great book on a beautiful beach with a bottle of water and a punnet of raspberries.

How much money would you like to make from The Block?
A lot.

What would you do with prize money?
Take both our parents overseas for a holiday. Buy a block of land at Wye River and build a weekend getaway and, depending on what we had left over, buy a property in Byron Bay that we could eventually turn into a B&B.

Do you want to be famous?
I have always wanted to be famous.

What's your favourite holiday destination?
Global: Santorini in the Greek Islands. Local: Byron Bay, NSW.

If you weren't doing what you do now (occupation) — what would you be doing?
Running a B&B in Byron Bay with Matt. We still might get there one day!
